SELENITE is also known as Gypsum Flower or Satin Spar (if it is finely ribbed). The crystal received its name from the Greek goddess of the moon, Selene. It is a very calming stone, bringing about clarity of mind, insight, and the ability to make decisions. It is associated with the third eye, crown and etheric chakras above the crown. This is an ancient stone, and has long been used to protect the home from outside influences, as it can protect an individual's mind from outside interference. It is useful in meditation for accessing higher purpose and guidance. Please do not immerse Selenite in water for lengthy periods as it can dissolve the crystal structure. Keep in a dry non-humid atmosphere. Humidity can affect its lustre.
