Horus is probably the most well known protector and ruler of ancient Egypt. He was the God of the Sky, God of War and God of Protection. When Horus fought with his brother Set for the throne of Egypt, his right eye was injured, and was healed by Thoth - so the Eye of Horus became the symbol of renewal and re-birth. Both Ra (the father of all Pharoahs) and Horus are depicted as having Falcon or Hawk heads. This symbol is a representation of Horus in the Falcon/Hawk form.
