• Aromatherapy is the practice of using essential oils for therapeutic benefit. Your Amygdala sits near several other brain structures that carry information from your senses, especially smell, which is why scents can connect strongly to emotions and memories. The Amygdala also connects to brain areas that process vision and hearing. Excessive stress/anxiety can put you in a constant state of 'fight or flight' or 'Amygdala Hijack', so learn to calm the Amygdala’s activity, and symptoms of anxiety and stress with deep breathing exercises, aromatherapy, mindfulness meditation, and muscle relaxation especially in the neck, back and shoulders where stress is 'stored'.
