BLOODSTONE or HELIOTROPE has been well-documented for centuries for its powerful healing properties – in Greek, Heliotrope means “Solstice”.  It is from the Quartz group of crystals, with green, red and yellow inclusions from iron silicate and/or hematite, chalcedony and jasper.  In Medieval texts it is referred to as Green Jasper or Blood Jasper, and was recommended for healing infections, inflammations and poisoning.  With its iron and jasper content, it is an excellent cleanser and purifier of the blood, and therefore beneficial for the liver, intestines, kidneys, spleen and bladder. It is known to have certain magickal properties which confer the ability to banish evil and negativity, and direct spiritual energies, and is therefore a stone for grounding and protection, which will also assist in bringing spirituality into the everyday life.  It is a calming stone which will reduce irritability, aggressiveness and impatience, and it helps us to adjust quickly to unexpected events so that we can keep control in any situation.  It also heightens intuition, creativity and stimulates dream activity.
