Ouroboros is the Ancient Egyptian serpent, in the Enigmatic Book of the Netherworld. The motif found its way into the Ancient Greek writings, into Alchemy and Gnosticism. In Norse mythology the serpent Jormungandr or the Midgard Serpent is a snake or dragon who lives in the ocean that surrounds the visible world (Midgard) and fated to kill and be killed by the Norse God Thor when Ragnarok arrives. This same motif is also found in the Book of Kells, and into Indian writings explaining the Kundalini effect as a snake coiled around holding its tail in its mouth. All of these ideologies represent Infinity, re-creation, the cycle of Life-Death-Rebirth, Immortality.
