The solar Goddess Wadjet was depicted as a rearing Egyptian Cobra snake often with the uraeus (the sun disc which appeared on most royal Egyptian crowns), spitting fire at the enemies of Egypt. She was protector of Lower Egypt, the Kings and Pharaohs. With her occasional aggressive "eye of divine vengeance" she became the protector of Ra (her father), and the Eye of Ra (later the Eye of Horus, her son). She was was associated with female deities such as Isis, Hathor, Mut and Naunet as various aspects of the great Mother Goddess, and also protector of women in childbirth. December 25th is her feast day, called "the going forth of Wadjet", and her specific time is the 5th hour of the 5th day of the moon.
